Anyone out there have any experience with drum vs: disk surge brakes on your trailer. Drums seem to be such a messy pain with everything inside getting coated with grease. You wonder if they’ll really work when you need them. Considering converting to disk, just wondered if they’re any better or worth the money?

Not necessarily an answer but my Ranger Trail has surge type disk brakes and they work exremely well. My rig will stop quicker as a boat and tow vehicle together than the truck will stop by itself.

I have only had experience with the disk set-up on a Shorelander and would not be without them.

I have a Ranger Trail also, and I agree. I seem to stop quicker with the boat behind me.
