Is anyone a member of the North American Fishng Club?

I received their packet of info for the first time back in ’87. Kinda looked like a joke to me at the time. The other day another one came in the mail.

Just wondering what the “Field Testing” is all about and if it’s worth the $12. a year.

    Thanks!

I’m a lifetime member of NAFC. Have been since i was a kid. I’ve always like them. They Mags are really nice and some of the field test items i’ve gotten I use on a day to day basis. Their cookbooks are really good too. I give them my thumbs up

So if I become a member, not only will I be supporting Blue, but your family?

I’m signing up…you owe me Blue!

Hey Brian, I’m also a lifetime member. I figured I would always be subscribing to a fishing magazine at one time or another, and this way I don’t have to worry about it. The magazine is ok, and the field testing is fun (though I have received some cheezy items in the past). Nevertheless, sign up and check it out.

Like you I had recieved the info packets over the years but didnt take it seriously until a friend told me he was a life member and how great it was. Finally I joined. I was sent information for field testing at least 3 times and told I would be getting one thing or another to test. The coolest one was a kit so a boat could be pulled up and stored on shore on rollers. I NEVER recieved any of the test items I was told to watch the mail for. I felt like they were dangling the proverbial carrot in front of me to keep the subscription going. I liked the mag but I barely have enough time to read the mags I already get. I did get hardcover fishing books (which are great) that I didnt order that you can keep and pay for or send them back. I kept the first one but requested that they not send any more unless I ordered them. All in all I would join for the mag and great info. Its worth the price. Dont join just to be a field tester or you may or may not be dissappointed. I cancelled and stick to my mags that focus on Minnesota.
    My 2 cents.

Oh…..I also forgot about that book deal. I had to send them a letter requesting them not to send any more books to me also. Bad deal on their part…….. I for one don’t like things sent to me that I have not agreed to purchase in advance. I hope they have changed in that area. Other than that a very good group to belong to!

I’m a life member Briank…….. I’m surprised you didn’t notice the jacket on one of our visiting occassions!

Like anything else…….. they’re a business and are going to promote and push products. Some you get to test, some you don’t, and they do keep a fairly active contribution to my “junk mail”. But that’s okay…….. Anytime I’ve gone for one of their “gimmicks”, they’ve always delivered as promised. No scamming….. so I remain a life member for the magazine, occassional promotions, and free hooks! I wouldn’t do it just to be a field tester though……. it’s not a great program for free products. You may get lucky but I don’t have the time for all the surveys and such so I don’t participate. But I’ll stay with it…… who knows what tomorrow holds?

From the bowels of IDA…this thread is from ’04.

I ended up joining…not by design. I joined a catfishing website and it was in the deal.

I only received one book and asked them to send no more.

Otherwise…to me the only item of any value was the magazine.
I’m not renewing…but I can see where some folks would like it.

This is the reason I will not and do not them them my time or money tricky tactics to get you to spend money, F that seriously a real business wouldn’t have to try and trick you into buying thier products.

They sent me a book, and a bill, I kept the book, and tossed the bill, they tried once or twice to get the money from me, but they sent it, I never asked for it, guess what? Legally it’s mine. I spent some good time checking into it, I know a few others that took the same route as me too

Until that ordeal, I did kind of like the mag though, I happily paid for the subscription, it’s too bad they lost my interest, with their poor scam of a business.

It would be interesting if I signed up again, if they would either ask for the money again or send me another book .
