live bait hooks

    Just wondering what kind of live bait hooks to use. I like the Owner SSW in sizes 6 to size 2 but i can’t find them in bulk or a cheap price. What other good hooks are out there that can be bought in the local bait stores instead of going to a specialty store? Any input is welcome as i live about 40 miles from the hooks i like and seem to loose about 10 to 15 on the Wisconsin River every time out. Thanks Mark

    Mark,you can bulk through most of your big stores like a Cabelas.I’ve been using alot of the Eagle Claw live bait octopus style red hooks this year and have been very happy with them.We have caught soo many fish off of certain hooks that the red will rub off making them gold hooks.

    I use Gamagatzu octopus hooks. I mostly use size 2 for walleyes. They come in pretty colors.

    If you are not looking to travel, just let the hooks come to you. Stamina is up here in the cities, great prices on good components.
