I will be in Anchorage on 8-31 for 2 weeks. At the later part of my trip I will down as far as Homer. Does anyone know of a great Halibut and Salmon experience that I should check out? Thanks Joe

Have been in that area the last two years.

Highly recommend Capt Dan for Halibut/salmon/cod charter out of Homer

Otherwise friends have gone with Capt Greg and have done well too.

I have used K-Bay Charters and was real impressed.

The Ninilchik River is easy to shorefish at high and low tides. Go down to the cannery, and fish the pools up to the riffles, and keep following them up River as the tide forces the water up. Grab a hand full of Blue Fox Vibrax in #5 sizes, 10 pound test, and you will have Silver salmon up the wazoo!

If you would be going by Sodoltna, you could check with earlyfishing.com for kings in the Kenai. Gary and Val do a good job and besides, I’m one of the guys holding a salmon in the picture on their website.

What happened? The UBBCODE didn’t work and I can’t open the attachment. What did I do wrong?

It looks like you’re linking out to a rather risky file type.. a DOS application? It fired all kinds of warnings on my pc. Anyway… only .gifs and .jpegs can be uploaded here.

It’s a web address advertising Early Fishing Guides and it has the only picture on the web of me holding a fish. Oh well, that was back in 2001 anyway. Maybe explains the DOS file. Don’t think it is contaminated though.

Maybe some day I will learn to use my scanner.
