curse of the dogfish

I was fishing for cats from shore the other nite and had seven real beauties on the stringer…went on down the shore about 50 yards to see if there were any hanging around by this old fallen tree when i heard all sorts of commotion back by where the stringer was staked to the bank. Figured maybe it was turtles or maybe a raccoon…Nope. Come to find out a big ol’ dogfish had chased my catfish about 30 feet up into a sycamore tree.
Managed to scare the critter off, but couldn’t get the catfish back . Didn’t get any fotos either,’cause the camera was left at home.
next time I’m gonna listen a little closer when those three voices in my head which say “stay home and clean the guns!” say “don’t forget the camera. Nobody will believe a dogfish chased your catfish up the tree…and the last two times this happened to you, you didn’t have the camera, either.

You, being a retired fireman, should know how to get cats out of a tree!

You’ll just have to catch bigger catfish.

Only four ways I know of to get cats out of trees, #1 climb tree and get cat ( bad idea ) #2 shoot cat with hose ( cat is really mad when he is down) #3 cut tree down ( hard on enviroment, lots of brush to cut up ) #4 shoot cat ( easy on everyone except cat)

I remember being a rookie on the Beloit Fire Dept. back in ’79 on phone watch…a lady called in and said her cat was up in a tree. I said “lady have ya ever seen a cat skeleton up in a tree? Think that must have been my first reprimand… or at least one of the first 10

Stray cats work well for trap shooting. Pull! Meow! Boom!

Didn’t mean to mess with your shooting, Kid. Next time you are at the line just go: “Don’t think about cats.” “Don’t think about cats”……
