It has been said the only thing cheaper than a fireman is a retired one…since i are one, here’s a way to make those Senkos last 20 bass instead of just two–regardless of wacky worm or texas rigging…A half inch band of shrink wrap tubing slid over the worm–like a cigar band–keeps the Senko from tearing . Ya don’t have to shrink it, just slide it on the worm…and you can re-use the shrink wrap after the Senko finally gives up the ghost….and don’t throw away those chewed up Senkos, either. They make great gifts and party favors!

I have not had a chance to try it yet but was told to go to the hardware store and buy cheap small o-rings for the same result.

    hi Ted,
I can see how it would work for wacky style, but how is the used when texas rigged. is it then just a colar on the north end so it won’t tear off as easily, or more back where you hook would come thru and texpose. also a tip for Senko’s is when you do have a torn up worm, you can use super clue to clue the pieces and rips back together again. where the pieces are clues that area is hard, but it does get a few more fish on a worm for you.
    Jack.

I have also heard the o-ring trick as well. I see there is a few pro’s out there that fish the senko with an o-ring. I heard this not sure if it true, but you don’t get a good hook-set with o-ring on there. Guess you hook the tonge alot more instead of the lip.

jack–I put the 1/2″ piece of shrink tubing at mid-worm where you poke the hook back thru when Texas rigging. Seems like this is where the worms really tend to tear..when one end gets too torm up you can either bite off the very end…or turn the worm around and penetrate the hook thru that end for awhile. the key seems to be reinforcing the middle of the Senko, which in no way hurts the action !

Im a big senko fan but have been using the new stike king zero . they stretch like the new super elastic baits ,and last for at least 10 to 15 fish.

Have you tied the new Techno-Tube from Chompers ? Falls like a Senko and looks like a cross between a Chomper and a tube—Unbelievable!

I have heard a lot of good things about that new techno-tube, but never used it. Might have to pick up a pack.
