This bruiser with a big ol punkin head has been around our property for 3 years now, not sure how big but my guess is 400 plus pounds. Any guesses from the crowd? His nose is at the same height as my hand as evidenced from the wood splinter on the pole in both pictures, he was chewing on this pole for 20 minutes as we watched him. He has been by the house 3 times in the last 2 weeks, just hope he shows up on some of the trail cams on our land for a better side shot.

Well if you 6′ tall, then that bear looks to be about 7-1/2′ tall at the top of his head.

    How big is that?

    Pretty big in my book!

On a side note, it looks like it was a bad day to be a telephone pole in your back yard!

I am only 5’10” but based on his height, the head size, and how much of the High voltage sign his mitt is covering versus my hand next to it I know he is gonna make a nice rug, just wish I hadn’t declined a bear tag for this fall.

I was talking to a lineman at Radisson power and he said they have to replace several poles a year, because the bears smell something in the poles treatment they think is a food source and will eat a pole in half.

I would guess about 40 lbs more than you weigh. My honest opinion there. (the top of his head is right below the dark mark on the pole)

    Would make a nice rug

That’s Jesse Krook in his old Halloween costume.

I use the width of his pad print. If its 5″, he’s a 5′ bear. 6″ is a 6′ bear. Anything over 6′ in Wisconsin is a shooter.
