My wife and I are heading to the Rice Lake area Friday to visit our son. Long story short we are not bringing the boat, but are looking for some areas that we could do a little panfishing for an afternoon or two while he is working. We plan on going to Duluth to see some sites, Marine General and the Anchor Bar for lunch. Also heading to the Wagon Wheel in Brille for fish fry Friday and Bohemian Ovens in Bloomer on Saturday night for the build your on pizza. Any suggestions on fishing from shore or other must do things, please feel free to comment or pm me.
    Thanks
    Todd

The Anchor…if you’re talking the biker bar in Superior, get the olive burger. Hands down the best of the best burgers I have ever eaten anywhere on this continent. The dinner hour might be challenging to find a table, but worth the wait. The lunch run isn’t bad at all. Outstanding food.

Ma and I might run to the cabin in Two Harbors along about Friday and she likes to hit the antique shops in Superior. The Anchor is always one of the stops.

I took the GF to Two Harbors on a romantic getaway during spring break in March, and we stopped in Duluth to have dinner with one of her friends at Grandmas Saloon and Grill

That place was awesome, great food and great atmosphere

Fish on the train tracks on the upstream side of the dam that goes through downtown. Excellent panfishing and simple, the train doesn’t run those tracks anymore. Hook/small jig and bobber = keep it simple.

It does sound like you’ve gotten the word on all the fine dinning in the area. I wish I had some really awesome shore lines for you but I can’t think of any really great ones. I do know that there are some public docks on the chetek chain that are very easy to fish from, if you go there it might be worth a stop by bass lake in chetek, especially if it’s hot out. The ramp there is also kind of a beach but it’s a fun lake to wade and fish with lots of Gil’s and small northern. Good luck and enjoy the area, and don’t forget the bug spray!!
