Edge?

The Twins of the last 3 years have had the reputation of being meek and soft (and not very talented). Starting to see the emergence of some real “edge” (and glimmer of talent) from guys like Arcia, Fein, Escobar, Santana.

Arcia’s mo-hawk and fist pumping, Fein barking into his glove… are these signs of the edge this team needs or just a couple of over-the-top outbursts from some mediocre players?

It’s a sign that the players can see things are going in the right direction. As position players it’s hard to go out every day knowing the starting pitcher likely won’t last through the third. This year they have much, much better starting pitching, in fact it’s getting better every month. Much easier to play when you always behind.

As pitchers they can know that there is some offense there if they can keep the team in the game.

They are still going to get blown out some games, but the 100 loss seasons should be behind them.

As a side note, the Triple A team has a very low era amongst it’s starting staff. The Twins future is looking much better.

    I’m jogging alongside the bandwagon…
Might hop on in a couple weeks.

They still need better starting pitching this year. Add one good top of the rotation arm and they legitimately contend for a Wild Card spot. Add a second good arm and potentially have the ability to compete with the Tigers. I think reality is maybe one additional impact pitcher (via trade or AAA promotion), but it could make for an entertaining second half..

Get me a starting left fielder, center fielder a productive first baseman and a consistent third baseman and I’m right with ya.

Big difference with being competitive and play-off ready.

They have the #5 pick in the draft that begins at 5:00 today. There are several good pitchers that will probably be grabbed before they get their pick, so they’re expected to take a shortstop named Nick Gordon, brother of Dodger Dee Gordon. With the picks they’ve had the last couple years and what they’ve got in the Minors now ,they should be relevant soon. But , it is baseball, so who really knows.

They are a lot of fun to watch this year.

Escobar is steady at short stop. Makes you feel good when he is out there. Lets just hope he can hit .270 or better for the year.

Arcia!!!!! Wow! What a shot. Hit it to Thome territory. Shortstop position I agree, is settled. I doubt w’ell see Florimone any time soon. I also don’t think Hicks has much of a future here. If a shortstop[Santana] plays the possition better, what chance does he have? Maybe he can be resurected some where else like Gomez. I don’t blame it on coaching, I blame it on lack of desire.

Hicks just got here to soon. He needed a couple of years
    In AAA.

Buxton will be here a year from now.

I agree, I just don’t believe it can get fixed in Mn. or AAA. I like the kid, but I think he needs a change of scenery. Some times that is all it takes.

I also worry they will rush Buxton & Sano. Fuld won’t hit much better then .250 but he can run the ball down. Get Fuld back and rotate Santana, Fuld & Willingham around. Willingham will get traded this summer no matter what.

What are your thoughts on Rick Anderson? Time to go? It’s been a loooong run.

Same as Gardy. When they have the players they win. Anderson will stay as long as Gardy is around.

They should be very, very proud. They got a split with a last place team. Enjoy your run in first place, St. Louis will soon pass you like they do every year.
