For a vacation spot….Am I missing out on a good time?
WASHINGTON (AP) — The family of a pregnant American woman who went missing in Afghanistan in late 2012 with her Canadian husband received two videos last year in which the couple asked the U.S. government to help free them from Taliban captors, The Associated Press has learned.

And so it begins. They may have opened up a can of worms with that prisoner exchange and from what I see on the news it wasn’t even a model US soldier. People will come out of the woodwork asking for their captive relative to be bought.
Kidnappings will most certainly rise now that the enemy knows we are willing to trade back our captives. What am I missing? Sounds weak and vulgar to me. Not strong and American. Tell me if/why I’m wrong.
Our guy was a member of the military. Might not have been a outstanding member but he was a member none the less. We can’t ask our kids to go and lay down their lives on foreign soil if we aren’t willing to do everything in our power to bring them home. Dead or alive they are our kids. You make a deal with the devil when you enter into wars and kill other human beings. There is responsibility that goes along with that. 
A co-worker who had served in Afghanistan said if he was in that same situation and he knew 5 Taliban prisoners would be exchanged for his release, he would trade his life to prevent it from happening.
Not my words, but a powerful message from someone who has fought overseas recently.
I would say he quit being a member of our military when he walked away from his base with the intention of not returning…in other words…disserting his fellow soldiers. The trade for Bergdahl will have far reaching consequences and will put our remaining troops in even more danger.
Since you don’t think he is a member of the miltary then he shouldn’t be charged with desertion. Correct?
I could care less about what happens to him or who he is, but this move is just piling on what is turning out to be some legacy 
Please keep pushing Climate Change initiatives. It can only help my side of the discussion.

Reminds me of the thrill seeking hiking hipsters that were arrested in Iran. These people have to be aware of the inherint risk that comes with these “vacations” They get their a$$ in a jamb and then expect mommy and daddy (USA) to come save them.
