Need a few ideas from the experts here on IDO….. We are taking the entire fam damily on a summer vacation in two weeks. There will be 26 of us staying in one HUGE 6 bedroom house near Grand Rapids. We will range in age from 4 to 84..
I’m looking for ideas on fun family/group activities that you have done with your families. A couple of ideas that are being discussed are.
    a) Everyone making there own 2014 family vacation t shirt. ie. tie dye an then use paint/ markers etc.
    b) A frozen movie night and then we’ll serve frozen items for snacks like ice cream, popcicles, margaretas!!
    c) a field day with activities like a sack race, three legged race etc.
d)i’m sure there will be plenty of games and card games every night along with plenty of adult beverages !!

Looking for other ideas that we can do, don’t want any wall flowers!! Thanks in advance for your help and ideas!!!!

Rent pontoons and bring the trolling gear.
I called the owner and he said he would rent his personal pontoon also but only to an experienced operator.
2 rentals and his personal pontoon would fit the hole crew!

Fishing tourneys are fun if you have enough boats. Or big pontoon with the kids with prizes for biggest fish, smallest, slimiest, ugliest, etc. And no not every kid gets a prize

    Have a FROZEN T-Shirt contest.

Everybody bring a T-Shirt, Spray them to get them wet, Not Soaked, Roll-up into tube shape and stick in Freezer.

Yes, they can all be wearing something else.

Object is first one to unwrap and put one Wins.

I’m guessing you will have older folks there? Use that opportunity to have the teenagers sitting around the fire at night. Encourage the older folks to tell family stories. It’s a good time to pass knowledge of the family to those
of all ages. History is something that seems to be getting lost with the younger generations.

    Just my opinion.

X2 We tell stories from past reunions/get togethers. We talk about what the grandparents liked, hobbies etc…

We went on a 33 day cross country camping tirp last year with the family. One of the neatest things we did, (if someone going has a projector and laptop) was put a sheet out on the camper and played a movie outside on the camper. We did it at every camp site we stayed at. It took about 5 mins and familys from all over were bringing chairs over to watch the movie. We would pop popcorn over the fire for everyone. The kids really loved it! If you are interested and nobody has a projector, shoot me a message and if it worked out you could use mine. I love family trips!

Great ideas!!!! We are renting a pontoon for the week and will have two kayaks a canoe and a small rowboat for water activities. Not a big “fishing family” other then taking the kids out to catch a few sunnies and a few cruises around the lake. As far as the beer pong idea, I think that there will be plenty of adult beverages!! The house has a full bar with 8 stools, a double wide beer fridge, a pool table, ping pong table and two TV’s. I’ve never stayed around Grand Rapids any sights or tourist type spots that we have to put on the to do list?

Visit Glens Army Navy Store. Lot’s of outdoor clothing for the whole family along with hunting, fishing, camping, etc stuff.

And the new L&M is cool but really just a big Fleet Farm. Fun though!
