I can’t decide where to go fishing on Thursday. I’m torn between Mille lacs and Pepin. Any thoughts? PM’s are welcome! Thanks in advance!

Do you want to play catch/release or keep fish to eat? Depending on your answer I would think that should tell you where to go…RR

FWIW, I live here and if I had the choice it would be another right now. I fully believe the bite will get better soon but it is slow now for most.

If a fish meal was part of the goal, pepin would not be on my list FWIW. I never considered those fish to be that good eating. I know a lot of people do, but not me.

What is the water temp? I’m looking forward to the spinner bite up there.

I personally think it is sad that people are avoiding Mille Lacs because of not being able to keep a fish. True the fishing has been slow at best but it will turn around.

Show your support for the local businesses’. They need it!

If the food is the number one priority then it is better to fish else-where.

Please do not take my rant personally Chasin, my apologies if it read as a criticism of you.

The last time I kept fish from Pepin I bled them and they had no off putting taste at all. This was last summer.

Kept one to eat at pool 4 when water temps were 34°, . Plenty of bass to eat on Mille lacs, considering they eat all the baby eyes I bet they taste pretty good

I hear ya! I’m a small business guy, I’m just after the better option for the bite. I can’t remember the last time I used a public landing on the Pond. I have my list of fav resorts to launch at.

If you want to catch a bunch of smallies, come on up!

The crawler/spinner bite was just starting to take off last weekend. Should be going good here soon. Water temps were mid 60’s.
