Just curious if anyone has any Simms gear out there. How well does it work? I guess I’m a little late on asking how it performs since it arrived yesterday. I’m hoping the stuff last me at least 10 years. I love this current weather but I will be excited to test it in the rain.

I’ve had a Simms G4 Wading Jacket for 5 years now and it hasn’t ever leaked a drop…even in some very heavy rain storms. I really think I could walk through a car wash with the thing and stay dry.

Last Christmas I got a “Bulkley” jacket, which is rainproof and also has “Primafil” insulation. I wore it out ice fishing a few times and it was very warm, in spite of the fact that it weighs very little.

So I’d have to say that so far the Simms stuff I’ve owned has lived up expectations.

Hey Elliot, it’s probably the nicest stuff I’ve ever worn with a price-tag to match. Is the price justified? Time will tell, like you said, you want to get a decade out of it for what it costs. At the same time, from other stuff I’ve worn, it’s lighter, yet just as tough and hasn’t leaked a drop like Rootski said. There’s precious few rainwear products out there you’d actually wear in a midwestern summer all-day soaker. You’d get far too sweaty and hot. The Simms stuff I think you’d probably stay the driest, yet sweat the least from what I can tell. They’ve nailed the thin-yet-durable-thing.

Enjoy, let us know what you find out after using it this year!

Are you guys buying Simms locally or ordering it?

I ordered mine, it’s hard to find at the local stores.

You can find Simms products at The Fly Angler, that’s the fly fishing part of Thorne Brothers. We bought my wife a Simms jacket there.

Do you guys find them to be long?

I see they don’t have any tall sizes.
I’m in need of a new coat this summer and have been looking at simms and walking past for a few years now.

@400+ for a jacket, it’s gotta be long enough for a 6’6″ guy like my self to bend over and not get my crack wet

Reed’s in Walker and Joe’s has some of them in stock.

I need to replace a Marmot 3 layer Gore Tex jacket that can’t seem to handle the job anymore. Searching high and low for something that can handle just about anything. Jazzed to see this post as I’m looking at the Simms ProdDry as one of the optoins.
