While fishing on the Chetek Chain Sunday, there appeared to be a Bass Tournament which is not unusual. What was unusual was bass boats running wide open very close to people who were fishing crappies in the Eckern Bay area. People were motioning for them to slow down and they just laughed and waved. Guess what surprised me was that the number of boats that did not slow down. Sure gives bass tournaments a bad name!!!!!

I fished bass tourneys in the past and I have to agree. These weekend warriors can be that way. Yes does give them a bad name. If u know what tourney their fishing get ahold of the director and speak with him. But please do not believe that all bass guys with Zoomers are.bad.

Were they really to close or were the fisherman fishing in a narrow travel corridor? I have seen that happen. Just playing devils advocate here.

if a narrow corridor is crowded, shouldn’t you slow down to travel through the crowd ?

Find out who was hosting the tournament and give the director a call. If it a stand up club run by a stand up guy, he will talk to the guys at the next meeting/event and chew some . The last thing a club wants is the DNR to revoke their permits due to some hooligans.

watercraft must travel at slow – no wake speed (5mph or less) within 150 feet of non-motorized boats, docks, swim rafts, swimmers, or any moored or anchored boat.

I’ve seen parked cars along a narrow corridor too! I don’t know what you do when you see this, but I slow down. It’s not only a matter of etiquette, it’s a matter of safety.
