They are finding them up by Bemidji already. I would guess with warmer temps this week they should be gangbusters especially southern Minnesota.

Found enough little grays for a taste teaser. Need some warmth. Woods are plenty damp. I’m about 20 miles s.e. of Rochester.

We found 23 big grays today. Many up only 1/2 to 3/4 inch. One yellow. This week will make them pop.

We found about 200 grays and yellows on Saturday in Woodbury. Some of them were pretty tiny and still partially hidden under the leaves. With the rain today and 80 on Tuesday should be able to pick a grip by this weekend!!!

I don’t think it has anything to do with mushrooms specifically.

    From Urban Dictionary:

“A Grip” – A large amount of a particular item (ex; time or money). Originated with hustlers counting their cash with how much would fit between your thumb & index finger (grip). Then it evolved into describing any item of large value/quantity.

    1. That BMW must have cost a grip!

    2. It’s been a grip since I last did…..

I realize you said MN but I am in NE IA (about 20 miles from the border) and found about 5lbs over the weekend. Cold weather hurt last week as it was tough. With yesterday’s rain and today’s muggy air… I’m anticipating good things this week! MN shouldn’t be far behind

Went out last night and found about 4 lbs in an hour and a half. Listened to a tip that I was given. He said ignore the normal rules… its not a normal year. Man was he right. Fresh ones that have popped on south, east and west slopes within the last few days. Majority of the find was on NORTH slopes… and were old. Probably had been up since last weekend. Doesn’t make much sense… but they are there. You boys in MN… If you’re finding them on south slopes… start looking on north slopes immediately. Good luck to all!

Thats great news Dan… although I’m worried that without some moisture and 80’s forecast next week. It could be about over. Soil is pretty dry here now.

Its getting close to the end Fry, I went out last night and picked a couple 3″ers but the area had already been gone through recently, seen slides where someone walked and their shoes slipped. The shrooms were still fresh and haden’t began drying out but your right, its at about the end of this years season for morrells.
