The fish ladder is a dead issue for L&D #3 at least. I haven’t heard anything about other Lock & Dams since the #3 nonsense.
Although I never did get to see the $650,000.00 feasibility report, I was told by the fella in charge that the earth around the dam wouldn’t support a fish ladder. There was some talk about using the “auxiliary” lock which is really just a gate. But that didn’t work out either.
This all pretty much ended when Gov Dayton was elected to office… connected? I dunno.
An aerial view over the last 2 months will show the natural fish ladder we have right now. It’s larger then anything the WI DNR could have ever imagined (or paid for).
On another but similar note, our friends at StopCarp.org are pushing hard to limit recreational (and tournament) boaters from using the locks. They feel the locks are the preferred method Invasive Carp are moving up stream.
Remember, these people are getting paid. No carp crisis, no job.
