Not unless they have a signed waiver by you or your spouse. It may be in paperwork summited at the beginning of school. Otherwise this is a big HIPPA violation.

The school should at least call you to see if you could provide proof of her medical record. Why did they not do this? Per the state, I believe each child needs to be at school X number of days in a year. The medical record could be her only way around the state regulation. hence the reason for the school’s inquiry. But why not call the parent?

I am also impressed that your daughter would know off the top of her head her MYCHART sign in and password.

Those are HER PERSONAL record. If the school wants to review them they go through the parent.

    End of Answer.

Is the nurse treating her? The school? No. Then no right to information.

Is your daughter 18? This could change the conversation.

It is time for you to show up at the school and talk to Nurse Ratchet Totally out of line and none of her business. If she wants a doctors excuse that is one thing but snooping into your daughter’s records—-heck no!!!!!!!!!!

Well… I guess I shoulda talked to the nurse before posting this. Teenage daughter tells wife, wife tells me, I almost go off on the nurse.

Turns out.. nurse just asked for the dates of her dr visits and my daughter offered to pull it up on mychart.. and nothing was printed. This wasn’t how it was relayed to me to begin with.

Thanks for the advise… I think we are good.
