Had a special invite to check out the new cabelas. It is great. Much better then the other local sporting good stores. Definitely worth a visit. Didn’t walk out empty handed. Cabelas club members available to see on the 13 th prior to main grand opening on the 15th.

there is a pre-pre opening on the 13th that they sent invites for. I got a invite but will probably not go as there seems like there are no specials that day.

Has anyone ever been to a Cabelas grand opening before? Do they normally have some good deals/giveaways?

I’m trying to decide whether or not to work from home on Thursday to check it out.

I was in Green Bay for their Grand opener….

Tom Gursky and I had pro-staff obligations for Green Bay, and I worked the two in Denver and a few more. Busy to say the least. The media attention is huge and thousands of people will come out just to walk through and take a look.

At Green Bay, this guy was hiding behide a display trying on all the pink PDFs……, I think he found his color

Gursky should have been a secret shopper I don’t think there was a rod on that rack that he didn’t check out by the end of the week

No pics of me….I was too busy!

Seriously though, at these grand openings, there may not be tons of deals like some of the Spring door Buster items. However, the vast majority of manufactures will have their Reps or Prostaff there to assist the Cabelas staff in answering questions on products. I realize its hard to see, but in the last pic, there is the entire Green Bay staff for the final kick-off meeting just before opening the doors. Not only did that include Green Bay’s staff, but all the mentors that corporate brought in from all the other stores. Just outside the glass, there are over 8,000 anxiously awaiting for those doors to open. That’s a lot of people asking questions and looking for stuff…. By bringing the staffers from the manufactures, it provides a lot of help when your seeking info

I was able to check out the store tonight, much smaller in size, but well worth a visit. I will be there all weekend helping out with the youth fishing clinic, grab the young ones and stop on out.
