Thursday night on the ten o’clock news on channel 4 they will give their choice.
Which one is it?
My personal choice is Fish Lake Bait in Harris, MN.
Todd always has quality bait at a very fair price and has treated me very well over the years.
For me, the best all around shop is Thorne Bros. Most helpful and customer service outdoor business I know.

X2 Although for bait selection, Vados gets my vote. Best variety including rainbows, shiners, all sizes of suckers, bullheads.

Cast nets on the St. Croix….
Two of my favorites are
Prince’s on hwy 169 just a couple miles north of Milaca
and
Fred’s in Deer River
Vados – been going there since I was a kid.
Jerry’s Bait in Mora (sentimental choice)
Matt’s Lucky Bait – best new bait shop!

The best minnows in the state are at Fletcher’s Bait shop in Sauk Centre, MN.
#1 Vados…Then
Fish Lake Bait and Prince’s are also very good!
Blue Ribbon is a good local shop for me.
Lots of good ones around IMHO. I’m sure I’ll miss a few but I agree with Justin on Fish Lake Bait in Harris as my favorite. Other’s that I’ve frequented:
Vados
Prince in Milaca
Fred’s in Deer River
River Rat outside of Deer River
Ben’s in Battle Lake
Christopherson’s in Alexandria
4 Seasons in RW
Swanson’s in Hackensack
Shriver’s in Walker
Gene’s in Perham
Mel’s in Spicer
Marine General
Timberline in Blackduck
Oars and Mine in Crosby

Blue Ribbon? Haven’t been there in years but it could be a TV pick…
Blue Ribbon is my personal favorite. I like Thorne Bros, but I consider them more of a large fishing store than a bait shop.
Matt’s is my go to place for worms. I don’t know what he feeds those things.
For Minnows, I have tried Blue Ribbon, but frankly the Holiday over in Hudson has always been better.

Tell him we all say HI!
There is no doubt about it! Log Cabin Bait on the way up to Wheeler’s Point on LOW! Never fear, Steve is here! DIRTBALL2
Vados and the three shops that Fish Lake Bait is part of.
Many many good ones around MN. Not sure how a best could be picked. 1st quality of a good bait shop is being on the way to my favorite fishing spot. Quality, variety of bait and tackle is right up there to. Through in someone behind the counter that doest mind listening to a quick fish story or share a tidbit of advice and you have a good bait shop.

Arties in Ortonville is the winner!

I’ve never heard of it, never get over that way.
Great award for that bait shop but really how do you pick one for the state of MN? There are so many and if they are not near by guess it doesnt really matter how great they are.
That’s what I was thinking Mike.
Best Bait Shop going by:
Freshest bait?
Available bait?
Best location?
Best hospitality?
Best prices?
Best hours?
Best looks (building not employees)
Most knowledgeable?
or even Most Popular?
never been to ortonville, but my personal preference is somewhere that has a good amount of tackle. the type of lures you don’t see at the big box stores.
also staff with knowledge of what the fish are currently doing.
The bait distributer in Glenwood has a small 24 hour self service shop. Perfect for the late trips to the lake.

How do they decide who wins this award? Seems like its a little fishy. I know of many great bait shops throughout the state that get a lot more business than this one.
