In the words of Mike Kurre: The public may not even know his name, to him that didn’t matter. You may have heard him on the radio talking fish habitat, or maybe you were pursing the Minnesota Conservation Volunteer’s Natural Curiosities section where he routinely answered questions about the fisheries world or maybe you were an intern where he shared his insights about teaching kids about the underwater world or maybe you were a student at one of hundreds of events that he helped make lasting outdoor memories at.
He was a gem at the MN DNR. This true gentleman of the resources was a great down to earth educator. He could teach you something about aquatics and you didn’t even know you were being schooled.
His sense of humor, well, was a little wacky, but always good clean fun. And if you ever heard him laugh….you’d know he was in the room.
Roland Sigurdson, who never saw the other side of 50, passed away on Wednesday of a heart attack and will be sorely missed by his wife Stacy, their two year old daughter Natalie, their close knit family & anybody whose life he touched via the aquatic world or otherwise.
Life’s not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body; rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out & loudly proclaiming, WOW, what a ride! George Carlin. Roland lived it.
