If you pull on that one loop you should get it.

New for 2014 is sufix 832. Only new one so far, not sure what else I’d like to try.. I kind of found my favorites already.

So far the 832 has been amazing. I like it a lot better than the PP and stealth I am also using.

Suffix 832 for the second year in a row. I no longer use mono and haven’t for many years.

I spooled up one of my spinning reels with #8 Nanofil this spring and I like the extra casting distance it’s given me (nice for a shore guy). It’s definitely not as strong as PP, but I might try a heavier test next time to see if that offsets the difference.

P-Line Flouro on all my reels except one. That spinning reel will get the suffix braid.

If your reels look like that, I’d maybe consider some sort of eagle claw or shakespeare line from the bargain bin. That sunline gets a little spendy. However, I can’t say I haven’t been there and done that. I’m a big fan of Trilene 100% fluoro

I know braids are popular, but I just can’t bring myself to spooling it up on the baitcasters. I actually will probably spool one of my older baitcasters up with braid for topwater and surface applications where I don’t want a sinking line.

I don’t like braid for topwater, with the exception of frogs and buzzbaits in heavy cover. Braid is a bottom contact line for me.

I like good ol 14# mono for topwater.

May want to give that a shot pug.

Well, it’s nice to know it’s not just me. I’ve got a selfie taken of me standing next to a huge backlash I had last year. I’m not in the picture because the backlash filled the frame.

If anyone wants to see it, I’ve got it mounted in my den.

There are probably 6 rods I use most often. 4 are 832 braid, most tipped with fluorocarbon leaders but at least one straight braid. I have 2 spinning reels that are non braid. One with ultra low stretch Trilene XT, and the other on Tom Gursky’s recommendation – Gamma Edge fluorocarbon. Looking forward to trying them all out…
