A couple weeks ago I was scheduled too have back surgery, due to my MRI showing nerves being crushed in my L4 and L5 vertebrates. Now I get my CAT scan results back that show a complete blockage in my Aorta. They told me that basically I’m close to Gangreen in my legs cause there’s not much blood flow there. No wonder I’ve been hurting so bad in my legs. I’m scheduled for bypass surgery next Thursday. Now I know I might have P’Od a few of you guys on a sports blog(Big G, VikingsFann, Brian K, Etc.) but it was done in good clean fun, never to hurt anyone. This is day 7 without a cigarette, wish me luck. But I really need your prayers, I’m not ready to have my stomach opened from sternum to belly button to have major surgery. I find myself more than a little worried even though I have great people behind me. Please send your prayers. I get my Aorta fixed and maybe I won’t need my back surgery. Sorry for rambling I’m on some pain relievers.

Sorry to hear about your health issues. The important thing is they caught it before you had a major heart attack. I would say God is already looking out for you.
Good luck with the surgery and keep the faith. We need a prayer Graemlin on this board!
April 11, 2014 at 10:15 am #1403540You will be in our prayers Mike. 2014 will be a tough year but look at it as a re-birth! After your tune-up and recovery you will feel like a new guy.
Don’t worry about us sports guys…………everybody knows we don’t know what we are talking about anyway.
Keep you spirits up, everything will be fine.
April 11, 2014 at 10:15 am #1403541I’ll keep you in my prayers. Hope it all works out. But what is going on that this is all happening just when fishing is starting up for the Spring. Guy, you need to work on your timing.

I have a few relatives who had about the same surgery done and literally that night after surgery they were up in bed talking. Weeks later they felt 20x better than they did before, one of those things where health deteriates so slowly you don’t even notice and when problem is fixed and blood starts flowing like it hasn’t in years you just might feel like a new guy.
April 11, 2014 at 11:08 am #1403555Positive thoughts and prayers sent, Mike.
I think, as difficult as it is, you have to look on the positive side. Finding out about the aorta blockage NOW probably saved your buttski. Sounds like you were living on borrowed time to say the least.
So while it’s a bad deal to have to go through it, the good news is that avoiding a sudden, unplanned, and rather inconvenient death is always, well, it’s always good news. IMO, at least.
And let us all not forget to than God for living in the times we live in when fixing this kind of thing is even possible. My dad had to have bigtime bypass surgery 2 years ago and when I heard that, I feared the worst. Long, complicated surgery, big recovery time, and risk of him never being the same again or worse.
Well, I didn’t realized that things had moved on a little. The surgery took about 30 minutes and most of that was standing around making sure everything held together and was operating properly.
Hang in there and know that we’re with you.

Keep up that good work on the new smoke free lifestyle.
God never frowns on us for asking his for help.
Be well, and let us all know how things are going for you.

April 11, 2014 at 12:44 pm #1403585You’re in my prayers Mike. I quit smoking over six years ago due to health issues, You will be amazed how much better you feel. Just because something is scary doesn’t mean it’s bad. Once healed you will feel wonderful!
April 11, 2014 at 12:45 pm #1403586Oh Mike, you are in my prayers. With modern medicine and doctors you will feel like a new person after your surgery. It’s normal to feel anxious but focus on your new beginning.
1Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.God Bless the hands of All those involved in your care and surgery and give you the strength, courage and faith to pass these turbulent waters.
April 11, 2014 at 12:55 pm #1403588If you’re referring to me…Id never hold a grudge over a discussion on the internet. In fact, I can’t recall what you’re talking about.
You most definitely have my prayers. My own father had a quad bypass 3 years ago. Its scary as hell going into it, but the surgeons who perform the operations are no hacks. They’re very good at it, and its become a routine procedure. Know all will be just fine!!
April 11, 2014 at 1:46 pm #1403605keep your chin up, if giving up smoking was easy we wouldn’t have an tobacco companies, but you can do it. Saying a prayer now for a speedy recovery.
April 11, 2014 at 3:17 pm #1403619Good thoughts your way Mike… hope you feel better and back at em soon.
April 12, 2014 at 5:59 am #1403688I will pray for Gods healing hands and the skill in the doctor to heal you. Keep strong with quitting smoking!
