I may be in the market for a Action camera. Not sure if I want to spend the $ for a Go-Pro. My current need is to film my daughters 1st Turkey hunt in a few weeks. Other than that I may like to film future turkey, Deer, and Duck hunts.I possibly might like to get some ice fishing footage with it as well someday. Other than the Go-Pro’s, are there any other cheaper units out there that will serve my purpose. Other than the cost the Go-Pro’s have tons of feature I most likely will not need, and I’ve heard they are not all that easy to use. Any Info. or suggestions are much appreciated.

I saw Fleet Farm has one for a couple hundred bucks. Difference between that and Go Pro??? I don’t know.

If you like what you produce and keep doing it you might as well bite the bullet and buy a Go Pro right away. I’m thinking you will end up with one anyway.

I got a go pro 3 months ago, not that difficult to operate. It does some amazing things and there editing program seems nice also.

As a previous go pro user, I recommend one of the sony action cams. I find mine easier to use, can be mounted in many of the same ways. And it has a car zuess (sp?) lens which I find is brighter than the go pro, better sound too.

Check out the midland action cameras. I have been looking into them and plan on picking one up soon. The xtc 300 looks to be the right fit for me.

I think Midland was the name of the one I saw at Fleet Farm.

    This might help

    Action Cam Top 10 Reviews

I just found the site and admittedly, I am a little skeptical when Hero maxes out all the categories.

Check out the comparison videos on YouTube too before you buy. There are many side by side reviews.

My nephew has a GoPro, but I like the price of that action cam.

I kind of like the Drift for FOV options, because I would like to be able to shoot things outside of wide angle.

Did Sony come out with a newer model, because the comparison list it as $150, but then I look on Google Shopping and see $300+?

I have the Go Pro 3+ Black. Its pretty fun to play with. The Go Pro app is cool. You can see what the camera is viewing and change settings or modes on your phone up to a couple hundred feet away. It does take amazing video up close but is not great for things at distance.
