Yes, he was where he should of been it was just a perfect shot. 1/2″ to the right and it’s a clank.
April 11, 2014 at 3:25 am #1403422What a game–wasnt sure who was going to win–lets do it again Saturday!!

No, but I’m tired of smug fans talking about the goofers as I’m reading a message board.
April 11, 2014 at 3:57 am #1403426So the Gophs win and the cops still have to break up a riot in Dinkeytown?

Actually for the first period and most of the second I thought it was just the opposite with the ESPN guys always talking up MN. Good game but both teams sure looked spent for most of the third. Ya gotta play all 60 minuets to win and thats what MN did and ND did not. To bad but GO SIOUX for next year and GO MN for Saturday night.
April 11, 2014 at 5:16 am #1403435Great Game and Great Finish, SO couldnot stand the anouncers last night. Had to switch over to the Wild game for a bit another great game!!! then I would go back. They need to go back to ND.
Go Gophers!!deertrackerPosts: 9237April 11, 2014 at 6:15 am #1403447Quote:

I’m sure someone out in North Dakota was tipping tractors last night.

So a basically turned off the TV to let the dogs out and go to bed right after it happened and I saw 1 replay showing time on the clock. They were discussing it here at work, so I went back to the highlight.
I didn’t realize that a shot was taken and there was a fortunate bounce on the play. Obviously there was a lot of room over there because he reacted to the first shot and then probably lost sight of the puck.
Talk about a lot of things having to go right to score from a face off in your own end with 9 seconds remaining!
April 11, 2014 at 9:33 am #1403530Im still in shock and disbelief. This tourney had cinderella story written all over it. Union steps up and takes out BC, the stars almost aligned for little ol UND.
April 11, 2014 at 10:57 am #1403549This game makes a fantastic case IN FAVOR of why instant reply works. The overhead shot of that goal was indisputable, the puck clearly was not just across the line, but all the way in the back of the net at least .5 seconds before time expired.
There is no way in heck that that goal would have counted in the past when there was no instant replay to use to verify it. No way. 100% chance it would have been waived off.
The referee, in the past, would have waived that goal off and said time had expired. They NEVER would have let a critical game be decided by a goal like that because it was an err on the side of caution mentality, just like you see when the refs “let them play” in high-stakes games instead of calling what would have been a call in a lower stakes matchup.
Honesty, lots of respect for North Dakota they played a fantastic game. I feel bad that it ended with such a lightening-strike goal, but that’s how things go sometimes.

April 11, 2014 at 12:22 pm #1403578no way they could have over turned it. Watch the official on the top of the screen he was well in place and went crazy calling it a goal as he was right on top of the play. I agree in some cases they would overturn in but not in this case if you watch the replay I think he was more excited than anyone.
April 11, 2014 at 1:45 pm #1403603And the Referee would have skated right in and waved “no goal”, time was out. There just no way that in the pre-replay days they would have allowed that goal in such a high-stakes game.
And even if they had, there would have been endless complaining that it was not legit, ND was robbed, etc, etc.
Bottom line is that instant replay ends it all. It was 100% clear that that puck was in the back of the net with between .5 and .6 of a second left on the clock. There just wasn’t any doubt.
