Did I wreck my trolling motor?

I bought ipilot and when I installed it it wouldn’t turn on. I put it back to using the foot pedal. And it still won’t turn on. Any ideas on this one? Hoping I didn’t wreck it because then I would be tempted to get a terrova. I am going to p4 again this weekend. And without the trolling motor it could be interesting.

What motor are you putting it on? Is the kit new and for your model?
The fuse might have blown and are you sure you have power.

It’s a powerdrive v2 65lb. 24 volt. I don’t see a fuse back there. There was a short protector attached to the end of the positive wire for the trolling motor. I think there is power. Because when I turned it on after re connecting it spun the prop for a split second and died.

Sounds like a blown fuse or tripped breaker. Should be a breaker on it and not a fuse.

If you are new to using the remote control, pushing any button turns it on but you have to push the prop icon to activate it AND hit the speed increase button until you get the speed you want.

When you installed it did you sync the remote to the trolling motor? Does the remote display turn on when you use the remote?

If I recall when I upgraded my Terrova to the iPilot with the kit, when pushing in the connection for the new IPilot electrical module I thought I had it all the way in. After nothing was working I went over everything and push that connection again very hard and it snapped into place and all is well since then which was 2+ years ago.

I will have to start tearing things apart trying to find a breaker. I did try to sync the remote but got nothing as far as response. The remote does turn on but I was unable to sync it. It looks a little like the guy that had the boat before me added some length to the cables. hoping i can find the breaker back behind the gauges as i cannot see one along the transom.

Is there breakers right on the battery? Thats where mine are for the trolling motor. Little button pops out the side when tripped.

If the foot pedal is not hooked up to the plug in, you need to connect that foot pedal plug to the other plug or your remote will not work. Took me a few hours to figure that one out LOL.

has a sure stop auto reset breaker at the battery. and it was connected to where the foot pedal had been connected before. I am thinking more and more that i may have fried a board.

Got it!!! my auto reset breakers were no longer auto resetting. tried it quick w/o the breakers and the motor sprung to life. set up to use the foot pedal now but if i get ambitious tonight when i get back from getting new breakers I may try to figure out what tripped the breaker. when i installed the ipilot but may just hold off due to wanting to go tomorrow an it being in working condition.

Good to hear you figured it out.
