I just found out I won a free trip for myself and the girl to Montego Bay Jamaica for May 2nd thru the 7th at work. I am very excited to say the least. I am curious if anyone has been to this area, tried fishing this area, tips or ideas? The Reports I can find are not good, most people say to save my money and just enjoy the beer, but I am hoping someone may have a positive experience to share or a direction of some sort of a bite they experienced that they would recommend. I have never fished the ocean so my knowleadge is limited here.

Thank you for any help or advice.

I hate to say it but I’d say to save your money and do something else. I’ve tried the deep sea thing Twice in Jamaica and both were a bust. Real expensive boat ride. Did not catch a single fish. That being said both my trips were in December. Maybe the fishing is better this time of the year. You will have more than enough fun things to do.

My friend went last summer, said fishing was a joke! charge you a butt load of money for a boat ride. Save your money for other things.

Enjoy some of the greenery down there and spend the money on a nice fish dinner.

I mean, if you think about it, have you ever seen a TV fishing show that was shot anywhere near Jamaica? I mean, I’m sure if the timing is right, earth/sun/stars/moon align, etc, etc, but still.

I would personally spend as much time as possible trolling. Trolling the bar, then trolling the beach, then make a couple of passes by the swim-up bar at the pool, then light a cigar and troll through the bar on the beach…

You know, more than 1100 different drinks can be made with rum? And all but 4 of them are delicious. I’m here to help.

The best of those Rum Drinks is the goombay smash ( official drink of the Bahamas ). 1 part Light or Dark rum ( your choice ). 1 part Spiced Rum. 1 part Malibu Rum. 1/2 part Apricot Brandy. 3 parts OJ and 3 parts Pineapple Juice ( use dole in a can ). 21 total shots in a 2 Qt pitcher. Yummy. You will never think there is that much booze in them – Make sure you warn anyone you don’t want to see smashed – They will sneak up on you – Just ask my wife You Manly men may have the urge to sit down to pee and want to start shaving you legs after a pitcher or 2 of them but thats OK – well worth it. Makes a good breakfast drink

I guess I know the answer to this question, looks like I will just catch a buzz on this trip.
