    Gophers NIT champs!!!!

    Three games into the twins season and Mauer is already DHing after the big move to first base.

    Give the Gophs some cred. Winning an NIT is a nice step and a decent recruiting tool.

    I agree, just been quiet. I heard that three out of the last four NIT champs have advanced to the sweet sixteen the following year. Nice way for the seniors to out.

    It’s cool that they won, but how would that feel to be the king of the second rate teams at that level?…… How many times have they been 1 or 2 in the NIT? It seems I can remember a few not too far back although some of that may have been wiped out in the Clem era.

    Early on this season they were looking pretty good….until the end of January that is ….

    I was born and raised in MN and was an avid fan of almost all their sports teams, but I transplanted to WI 17 years ago and with each year that goes by, I find it harder and harder to stand behind the MN teams I grew up with. The one exception to that would be Gopher Hockey. I grew up playing hockey and when I was a kid, I dreamed of playing for the Gophers someday. I still like watching them.

    And technically speaking they probably were better than at the very least 12 of the teams who got in (including play in games)
