The circuit board that controls my oven/broiler has been dying for months. It finally pooped the bed this week. It’s an older stove and the board is expensive and mostly unavailable, so not worth replacing. Sounds like it’s time for a new unit.

I cook a lot, so I would like something nice. It would be a slide in gas range/oven. Would be nice to have a stainless cook top for easier cleaning. I would like to avoid digital controls if those are still out there. If my only option is digital controls, then I want them on the top/back of the stove and not directly over the oven door.

I would appreciate any feedback anyone can offer. Good brands. Bad brands. Any good stores around the Madison area.

    Thanks.

We got a new gas oven last year. Stainless GE. Dual ovens. One is digital with convection and the other smaller oven is an analog dial. (old style with calibration on dial) The range works excellent. The ovens are very good but the larger digitally controlled oven doesn’t have a calibration. Luckily its on temp. We matched it with an overhead matching microwave. Good looking rig.

I have a Frigidare Professional Series gas 30″ wide, I like to cook and I like this unit. 5 burners on top w/ cast grates, 2 high output, two medium & 1 simmer, a convection fan in oven, electric warmer drawer on bottom.

We got a Samsung five burner stainless. So far so good and cooking is a big hobby around here. When we built up north we did a double oven in the wall and a Wolf cooktop. The Wolf was spendy but the heat control is amazing.

Anyone find that their burners run hot? The simmer burner on the Samsung doesn’t go nearly as low as I’d like, is this common?

Wolf six burner is what we have at the Dog House.

    Conventional and convection ovens.

    Very nice.

In the rental fleet is seems like they all poop the bed and the control boards go out – $500 repair – I just throw them out and buy new $400 ranges.

Odd that they are so expensive to repair / replace. life cycle seems like 8 years or less for anything made in Korea and China. Fridge, microwave and ranges all seem to go equally as fast.

We also have the Frigidaire pro series slide in. Great stove and nice convection oven.

I have a fridgidaire professional series 5 burner but with a regular gas oven not convection. Great stove so far. Have had it for 4 years and would certainly buy another.
