I think Allen got a terrific deal.

I think the Bears got hosed. A 4 year, $32 million dollar deal for a 32 year old player?

There’s a reason why he sat on the market so long–nobody was willing to pay the huge money he wanted for a player his age. Good luck to da Bears in years 3 and 4 of this deal when Allen is 36 and 37 years old.

Not worth that money at all, I mean the guy could pass rush, no doubt (although is numbers were way down last year). But, he may be the worst when it comes to stopping the run. It was actually quite funny to watch last year. The bears couldnt even come close to stopping the running game last year, this signing made it worse. I also laughed at their signing of MD Jennings, who is quite honestly the worst safety in the NFL. Any packer fan will tell you, nothing short of atrocious!!

    30+Million – 32 year old man- 4 years = BAD DEAL!

Unless it’s QB or kicker, I’d never sign anyone that’s 32 years old

this might be a good move, it looks like they added some talent to the D-line to shore up the run defense, this to me is an upgrade from Peppers as Peppers can’t stop pantyhose from running.

To be fair, it is very difficult to stop pantyhose from running.

Huh??? Jared Allen is the worst D end in football at stopping the run! You haven’t been watching much the last 6 years I guess??? Good for the Vikings not to give that pass rusher big money…

He signed a 4 year and $32 million contract.
It is basically a 2 year deal worth $15.5 million.
No guaranteed money in years 3 or 4. So, he will get cut or restructured after year two.
Not a bad deal for either side.
Vikings are trying to get younger and have done so. Even so, sure going to miss seeing #69 calf roping after another sack….

Exactly, it will end up being a two year deal.

Bingo, and he will be a rotational guy. Peppers had less sacks, tackles, and cost us $18 million if the Bears kept him, so I look at this as a significant upgrade. Allen had 11.5 sacks last year and has double digit sacks every year since 2006. Peppers led the Bears with 7.5 last year. I look forward to his energy too. We just need the defense to “Not Suck” cause the offense can put up some serious points.

look at the others guys they put on their roster for the run defense. JA isn’t that guy, he’s the pass rush threat needed to balance the d-line. JA isn’t the only addition they made, look it up.

Sorry, but youre wrong… Jared Allen has been horrendous at stopping the running game. He bull rushes the qb every snap, almost always to the outside of the tackle… no matter the situation. He opens up giant running lanes inside the tackle, and that spells huge trouble for the linebackers… and the bears could quite honestly have the worst group of linebackers in the entire league. Hes very effective in passing downs, but to give a guy this much money to rush the qb every 3rd down… questionable to say the least.

As long as the bears have – in the words of Charles Woodson – the same old Jay, it won’t matter….
