Agreed to a point. However Cabela’s is a outdoor equipment company. Their involvement is a direct conflict to those seeking a solution to Mille Lacs where they feel the band is partially at fault.

I get it. I’m 53 and feel as though I’ve been hearing about this for half of my life and nothing seems to change.

the problem with the boycott While noble is we are statistically irrelevant in the big picture

the best possible outcome from this boycott would be Cabelas deciding not to rent at casinos nothing more is going to come of it.

I think the first step is we need to understand there’s absolutely no connection whatsoever to the billion-dollar gambling casino industry and netting.

    None.

Other then the Sovereign nation status, Legalized gambling, and the treaty that allows the nets you mean. Other then that you’re right, there is no connection.

If a person plans on boycotting Cabelas due to some sort of connection I think it would be hypocritical to do business with any corporation that is somehow tied to the casinos or tribes.
I think if a person spent the time to create a list of all business’ that do business in one way or another with the casino, be it advertising or whatever that the list would be surprisingly lengthy. You should then stop all transactions with all of them.
This is not to defend Cabelas, just an opinion

I agree! Thats why I have stopped all support for any businesses that support the tribes until they are in the same boat as the rest of us. No pun intended.

With the rumor mill churning it up for Cabelas, how’s everybody doing with this boycott this far? Are we still upset with their decision?

Admitingly, I’ve shopped there once since then, BC I had a gift card and was sort of a last minute circumstance. Told the family/friends my stance on this issue and haven’t and won’t receive any further gift cards.

Curious to others, moved on? No biggie? Still concerned?

A few more bad years, i can see the tribes buying up the lake little by little. That would be the real money maker.

Nothing on Mille Lacs has changed.

The DNR has announced there is a great YOY class coming now. However, it still has nothing to do with netting even though the netting was off because of late ice outs the last two years.

DNR formed yet another HAND PICKED committee to help with the recovery of the lake. However no citizens are allowed to even sit in on the meetings between the Band, GLIFWC and the DNR.

Thousands of sportsmen flock to the Casino to gamble, eat and see the shows, then upon returning home log in and complain about the fishing on Mille Lacs.

So, no nothing at all has changed. coffee

I went to one of the casino’s around here a couple of decades ago. I lost $20 dollars and have been boycotting them since. Does that help? )
