Here is my thorough product review on the new Plano Guide Series Tackle Bag:

The Plano Guide Series Tackle Bags are a must have for any angler this upcoming season. Plano offers them in 3 different sizes (3500, 3600, and 3700) so one of them is bound to fit your fishing style and tackle sizes. Each tackle bag comes loaded with 5 or 6 customizable tackle trays, a front pocket with ample storage for your pliers, tape measurer, and scale, an expandable mesh pocket on the back, two padded side pockets, a molded top with an elastic tie down for easy access, and a clear zippered pocket under the top cover. These bags also feature a rugged waterproof bottom to protect your investments and keep your gear dry. Oh and did I mention that these tackle bags took home an ICast 2013 Award for Best Tackle Management product.

I fully understand why you like the fully waterproof bottom. But after owning the older 3700 version of that bag and it having a fully waterproof bottom as well I will say it is particularly not a good thing in the rain. I have forgotten to fully close and zip the top and come back to it later and there is an inch or more of water your tackle boxes are sitting in which requires you to drain and dry each tackle box. I learned that lesson after it happening a couple times and drilled a couple dozen 1/4″ holes in the base. Very rarely will I actually set my bag in a puddle and dirt doesn’t seem to make its way in much either, and I’d rather deal with cleaning out a little dirt than have to dry out all my stuff again.

    Great review though, thanks!

I was just in the market for a new bag for when I’m not in the boat. I looked hard at that bag, but in the end I went for the spiderwire wolf bag.

The multiple pockets with fishing organizers Spiderwire Wolf Spider Tackle Bag is one of the stylish bags allowing multiple carriage. The bottoms are very well molded that can go for all weather.

I would prefer for that to happen than have a soft sided bottom (which water could pass through IF it got inside your bag) which will soak up and take in any moisture and eventually rot/lose quality much faster. I place my tackle box on wet boat carpet and wet ground FAR more than I’ve ever had water get inside my tackle box. To each their own though!
