I have fished a couple times in the Rivierra Maya area south west of Cancun. We are planning to make another trip next month. This time I’m thinking if there is a different region of Mexico with better fishing I’ll plan my vacation around the fishing.
Anyone have any advise that has been more places? I’ve heard Cabo is good too.

Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo. Pangas for $200 7-8hrs and they catch fish. Drive to the pier downtown Zihuat around 2PM as they return. They will start asking for fishing charters right away. Take a left and enter Lily’s. The owner is a good captain. If he is booked, he can recomend the best available. Ask if they have tuna tubes and use downrigger/z wing. Tell them how you want to fish and if catch and release or if you want to keep the fish. I just take a slab of dorado and let them have the rest. Plenty of dorado and sails Jan/Feb. Marlin around march. Can inshore fish too. Lily’s will cook it for you too if you wish. Decent beaches in Ixtapa. All inclusives or condo rentals.

I’ve done well two years in a row in Cabo San Lucas with erniescabofishing.com. He is a 3rd generation charter boat captain and is relentless each and every day we’ve gone out with him. In January we got 48 tuna, 7 dorado, and 5 marlin in 3 days of fishing. Good luck!
