Any one had a chance to pick up one of the new Shimano Curado reels yet? I need to replace a few old worn out reels this year and this is one of the reels I want to take a look at. I sure hope Shimano gets this one right and returns to some of the quality reels they were know for in the past. I have 3 or 4 of the old Green curado’s from 10+ years ago that still work and have never had a problem ( These were made in Japan ) I’ve owned 2 or 3 of the new models since then and they were not near as good ( who knows where these were built ( I believe China or Malaysia ) The reports say that shimano made a real attempt on improving the quality on this new model. going by a bass pro shop on spring break in a few weeks. May have to stop and have a look. At a price point of 179.00 they would need to be much better than the last few model’s I’ve tried.

I got to play with one for a day this weekend. I like it for $180 they are a okay value compared to the Curado’s clearanced out right now. It is a lot smoother out of the box and I think they have come a long ways from the last series.

Only time will tell how long they will last the old green Curado’s were still some of the best. Mine are all on the second set of gears though and at least the third set of drag washers. Maintaining a good reel will make it last a lot longer.

I haven’t actually seen one yet. In the searching I have done it doesn’t appear that this new Curado will come in the 300 series which is a bummer. Can anyone confirm this?

I have not seen a change in the 300 series Curado’s yet.
