I am looking for a few suggestion from those that have been to Alaska. We are planning on spending a few days there this summer but don’t know where to start. We want to fish at least one day with sight seeing the rest. What’s our best bet? Places to stay, fish, eat?

What time of year is my question to you ? And where do you plan to sight see? If you are going to fish and sight see then going to soldotna all the way to homer or you can go to Seward and fish and sight see also it just depends on what you wanna fish for and see

i lived in anchorage for almost 4 years good to know when you are going to guide you better and what you are wanting to fish for. As far as where to stay the best thing to do is just rent a rv because every where you want to go is a road trip! I landed a 242lb hailbut out of the ninilchik area.

We are thinking August. flying into Anchorage and renting a car. I could care less what we fish for, but the wife wants to sight see and get some good food.

if you head towards homer area bird creek, russian river, and dont forget ships creek in down town anc. alyeska ski resort is a good place to see and eat. the lagoon in homer is fun fishing![watch out for the seals!] if you want to try on a boat talk to allen goings from greatland guide service in ninilchik or head to mount Mckinley plenty of good fishing that way as well

There is a train that runs to Seward out of Anchorage. The view is incredible. The fishing out of Seward is great. I have been there 3 times and have always caught lots of fish.

    What about St. Matthew Island?
