Do you already have a separate stereo? I run my TV and Dvd’s through mine. Speakers by day and good head phones at night when the Bride is getting her beauty sleep.

I got a Vizio sound bar and wireless sub on amazon for $199. Identical unit was $329 at best buy. It sounds awesome and with a blue ray movie on the house just rumbles. In my basement I have a Bose surround system that I put a thousand into 4 years ago. The bar and sub is as close as I’ve heard to the Bose system at 1/5 the price!

Do you mute the TV speakers and just use the stereo sound?
    It makes a difference.

My Vizio TV has poor sound but the picture is great, my bride bought a Vizio sound bar at Sam Club on Black Friday and it really adds to the movie watching experience, she didn’t pay much and unless sound really means a lot to you I wouldn’t pay more than $200 for one. And yes muting the TV makes it better! Good Luck shopping and if you have time go to the local library and check out the electronics issue in consumer report for reviews on sound bars

Does a guy leave the sound bar on or do you have to turn it on and off each time?

I have a samsung smart tv and bought a samsung sound bar with wireless sub as well. the sound bar actually connects via bluetooth to the tv. when I hit power for the tv, it turns off everything… as well as in reverse.

Mine has a separate remote that needs to be turned on, but I wouldn’t call myself tech savvy..

I assume you can also listen to music via your smart device (ipad, ipod, smartphone, etc) thru the soundbar as well? We have an i-pad, will that operate thru a samsung soundbar via bluetooth?

I recently purchased a Sony soundbar with wireless sub for less than $200 from Amazon, best $200 I’ve ever spent! It has bluetooth so you can play music right from your phone..You can also program the Comcast remote to work with it so everything turns on/off with 1 button press…totally worth it and sounds comparable to a 5.1 system that requires speakers and wires everywhere….
