Well as much as I was thinking of moving to a lighter boat, fate intervened as I was in an accident last night and now am thinking I need a new vehicle.

So, I tow a ranger 617 and am looking at getting an acadia.

Anyone have any towing or general feedback on this vehicle ?

    Thank you for your time.

Do you have breaks on the boat trailer?

Son had an Acadia for a couple of years and towed his 18.5 Ranger Riata with no issues. He traded vehicles only because lease ran out. Trailer had brakes.

You be the judge, pending how far you will tow your boat.

These specs are for a 2014 Arcadia.

I would also consider how you pack for longer trips. Well for me, it is how my wife packs.

Well Ranger says it left Arkansas with brakes, but it does not have any. I am looking at getting some added now that I think I have lost my very reliable Trailblazer.

In general, I travel about 20-30 to fish, only one or two longer trips a year.

I cant imagine that size boat/trailer coming with out brakes, I gather you bought used?, either way that set up should have brakes.

IMO the Acadia was a better tow vehicle than the Trailblazer. Had experience with both.

Try to find one with the towing package. Tran cooler, tow haul switch, light hookups and hitch.

Yes, one would think so, but when I bought it used there were none. Yes, I am looking at getting them added. To this point, my trailblazer did a very nice stopping my 617, but I am not sure if I will get to drive my formally in good condition TB again.

Anyone know of a good trailer place to get them added. I am thinking of going to Kaiser in nicer grove heights.

First, I hope that you (and anyone with you)are feeling well and there’s no residual bodily damage and bruises!

I’m not all familiar with the 617, but I’m thinking is a 17 foot, probably on a single axle trailer. I think you would be fine if you don’t go over loading the rig when heading out. And just know you’ll have to increase your braking distance like you and the rest of us probably already do…
Just hope your ok, equipment and vehicles can be replaced. You can’t!

I’ve got an 2012 Acadia Denali.
Excellent and beautiful vehicle, and pulls the the Alum Trophy 175 w/F150 and T8, with absolute not problems.

You’d want to have the factory installed towing package that has aprox 5,000 lb hitch, installed wiring, and transmission cooler.

You can not go wrong with this one.

The Acadia with factory tow package has a rating of 5200 lbs.I think. If it does not have the tow package and you just add a hitch and wiring it is only 2400 lbs.

And if you add a hitch to an Acadia, you
also then would not have the Trans cooler,
which you’d really want to have.

If you tow and are looking for an Acadia, I’d only
buy one if it had the factory Tow package. There should
    be plenty to choose from.

    Hi Fellas,

Thanks for all the feedback, I do appreciate it.

They say in general you start to see effects from an accident anywhere from right away up to a month or two. So far I am still plenty sore with a helping of discomfort in my lower back, of which I am already working on both to get me back to “my normal” Hopefully, I can get things turned around quickly. I have not heard anything specific about the other driver, but I am hoping he is doing well.

As far as my new vehicle, with such a short amount of time to look and with other factors taken into account, I went with a nice used Tahoe. That gives me plenty to tow my boat with, and also some nice comforts versus what my base trailblazer had. It just seemed like the right fit.

    Take care,

You cannot go wrong with a Tahoe, congrats!
If I did not need a pickup the Tahoe is what I would be driving, you will love that rig!
Hope you heal up soon, take care.

    Paul,
Congrats on the new Yukon. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with it. Hope you recover fully very quickly. Especially before open water. Good luck.
