Funny how times change and if you don’t pay attention…Be Careful.

4 years ago – nice, young, attractive, kind woman rents – has job, makes timely rent payments…all is well

2 years ago – rent starts to trickle in.. cash in the mail, late, problems. Eviction looms and at the suggestion of said landlord, parental co-sign required. Rent starts coming in timely from father.

1 year ago – remodel work done to apartment. Pills everywhere, hoarding filth, rotting garbage, sink backed up, dirty dishes, bathroom disgusting mess, etc.

Chapter 7 filing notifications from the BK court.

4 months ago, Police called to apartment for new boyfriend – drunk, disorderly conduct, filth flying out of both of their mouths towards officers. 90 days of police visits, restraining orders filed, jail time for boyfriend, etc. Other tenants threatening to leave. Don’t feel safe.

Referred to them as the Boar and Sow, living in the Sty. You could start a reality show called the White Trash Pigs. Disgusting Humans. Drunk/Drugs..no jobs and in their 30’s living off of parents. The Boar actually had a piglet with another Sow. Sad for that piglet.

Then one night…Finally gone. I can’t imagine where they took that gong show.

New renters in and peace has been restored.

Never have experienced/witnesses the decay of the human spirit – like I witnessed over that time period.

There are garbage people out there – I just have never been that close. Disgusting. Be careful – they can drain your energy.

When you become a landlord you see it all.
    Drugs just accelerate the downfall.

I used to have two apartments over a storefront in a building I owned. You’re preaching to the choir brother!
I got called up one night to help out the good tenant and the hallway reeked of weed and the rap music was blaring.
I knock on the door and the gal opens it and there are two guys with her, their all stripped down to their underwear and the ceiling fan is covered in bras.
I’m not writing this to judge how people live but to agree with Brian. When this girl moved in two years earlier she was a student at St. Cates and had a crucifix hanging in her livingroom. By this point she was dropped out of school and on assistance from daddy. More than a few times I saw him leave with tears in his eyes.

I get your sentiment. I’ve been a “landlord”…sold duplex after having similar experience. Very frustrating! But, I’ve also been on the other side of the fence. Alcohol and drug addiction is powerful…turns good people into bad, and bad people into even worse….I’m not gonna turn this into a philosophical thread on addiction…..I’ll simply say, “But for the Grace of God, there go I.” Let’s pray they wake up and see throught the Madness! Good luck with the new renters!

I recently entered the landlord category renting out my previous house after getting married and moving in with the wife… I was lucky (knock on wood) to find an older couple who was retired and needed a larger house because their grown son was moving back home. He is also a Veitnam Vet who takes a lot of pride in looking after my house. When he showed up to look at the place and realized I had an American flag in the garage we had a handshake deal that night. They are dream renters so far… I hope I never see the slumlord side of renting property.

The wife has a friend that rents home and apts. One thing she does is meet the renters to be at the drive ways and looks into there cars. If the inside of the car is mess the judging starts there. Strong opinion first look!!

Didn’t you get the memo, it’s not their fault, it is a disease man.

It’s not hard becoming a slum lord. It’s harder getting the people out and getting your rep. back after.
