Many of you may have already heard that today ‘Dick’ Cabela passed away at his home in Sidney, Ne. Funeral is planned for the 21st.

Having grown up in the Panhandle of NE, I was introduced to the Cabela’s in about ’67. Dick and his brother Jim I don’t think ever imagined the company ‘this big’…..’back in the day’, just a couple of ‘good ol boys’ who loved fishing and hunting. RIP Mr. ‘Dick Cabela’
You’ll be missed. Thanks for everything.

My first Cabelas order was placed in about 1971 or 1972. The order went by mail and returned by mail. It took about 2-1/2 weeks to go full circle back then. My how things have changed.

    RIP Dick.

Back in Aug while working the grand opening of the Denver store, I got to have lunch with dick and his wife. A very humble and great full man

That had to be great. The last time I saw him or Jim, was in ’73 when I was home on leave. It was an enlightening visit..
