Living in Princeton I see a constant line of trucks and boats heading to Mille Lacs in the summer. How many of you opt for quick day trips either on weekends or after work? When I was a kid it was a major run to Mille Lacs. Two lane Hiway, old vehicles, 55 mph speed limits. Today I think lots of construction guys start work early and hit the lake in the early afternoon.

So, for you metro guys do you do the weekday thing or just wait and head up on Saturdays?

Majority of the time it is day trips for me. Leaving my house early in the a.m., I can be to 27 and 169 in about 75 minutes.

Day trips for me but I am always SMB fishing when I fish Mille Lacs. Takes me ~90 min from my house. But I usually leave some time to figure out where I want to launch/fish depending on the winds.

I’m in Hastings and it is about 2 1/4 hrs for me and my trips are usually 1-3 days but I have family living at Hunter’s so it is pretty cheap to stay for a few days if I decide to.

Weekday day trips, a few over nights and a week in the fall.
