R.I.P.

Driving down to the cities from Ely on our way to the airport heading to Ecuador, about halfway through the trip I hear I tightening sound in the engine so I quickly pulled over and shut the car off, just as it started to make a clunking sound. I looked under the hood and saw oil all over the alternator belt and everything on the passenger side of the engine… checked the dipstick and it was dry… (no light ever came on) Used my USAA roadside assistance, and got the car to a shop, where I told the mechanic worst case scenario was the timing chain slipped caused the pistons to slam into the valves, burst a seal on the front side and the car is done for… best case scenario, the filter leaked out and the wind caused all the oil to go to one side, and a fill up may be all I need. Looks like it was the timing/valves R.I.P. car.

Try some Sea Foam, from what I read it fixes everything.

According to yesterday’s posts, a custom rod, Otter Lodge, and Strikemaster auger will fix it.

NASCAR says duct tape fixes everything and BK says Spam or bacon fixes everthing. Take your pick. Sorry about the car. Hope you have a better trip down south.

He will actually need a HDS-9 Gen2 Touch and a 800 quad with tracks to finish his journey safely.

    Hope your trip finishes better

I am so bummed that thread got locked out yesterday…I started following it in the morning and sat down last night with a quality old-fashioned looking for a little entertainment. Only to be thoroughly disappointed…

Well if the offer is open, I will trade the car for an Otter Lodge, a Strikemaster auger, and a TUC quicktip. That really would fix it on my end! It sounds like I missed an interesting thread though.

I’d say that’s a pretty good trade. Those will definitely make you a better driver

Drink only bottled water or the motor won’t be the only thing that craps out.

It’s technically the wife’s car, so the trade would still be a win for me.
