I have a trip planned to lake winnipeg from march 23-27. Was wondering if any one from this site will be up the same time or before us. Never fish this body of water yet and would be willing to share info on it when up there. I will post reports when we get back and hope to have a few pics of some big old eyes to go with the report

Taz I will be up with a group over those same dates. We are running out of the casino on the opposite side of the lake.

Sounds like there will be a few of us IDOers up on the big lake I will try to keep ou posted from day to day up there. Sounds like there already 3 1/2 feet of ice and if this cold weather keeps up there might be another foot befor we get up there.

I will be up march 15-19 so I will try and post a report when I get back. I’m already getting excited, modified some baits last night. I switched all my blade baits hooks out with mustad triple grip treble hooks. Anyone else do this? I did it last year on my live targets and definitely didn’t drop as many fish as I did with other lures with regular hooks. Taz, if you have any questions about anything feel free to PM me. I’m no veteran but I went last year so I might be able to help out!

Hey folks. I too am just putting together plans to get up there 3/21-3/25 so it looks like a number of us will be overlapping dates. How many of you are hiring a guide service or are you doing it yourself? I am used to fishing Lake Winnebago in WI which is a very large body of water also – but in March we do almost all of our fishing withing 2 miles of the incoming tributary near Oshkosh. Thus it’s just a matter of run/gun with a few friends to track them down each day. Is it similar out here in front of the Red River or is a guide worthwhile?

I am certainly open to sharing phone numbers/info etc with any other groups that have overlapping dates with me to help one another have a great trip. Feel free to PM me if you would like to do so.

Ajaikens31 – any info that you would be willing to provide to me after your trip would be greatly appreciated. I’d certainly like to talk to you over the phone if possible when you are done.

Does anyone know what the requirements for non-residents bringing snowmobiles for lake transportation for fishing are? Is a Snopass required? Helmet? The 3rd party proof of insurance etc.

All you need is the one that is top center. Pinky.

Blades were my hottest last year – sounds like spoons are hot this year.

I’ve got some new spoon creations for this year. If they work, I’ll spill it.
