This is a tough one….been a gopher hockey fan my whole life but now I’m enrolled part time in grad school through St Cloud. Can I still cheer for the gophers?

No. It is ok to cheer for your school while you attend, then jump back on the gopher bandwagon when you finish.

Nope………..you are a Huskie now, besides your school is ranked right behind the rodents ………….for now, that might change next week.
January 24, 2014 at 11:36 am #1382661Well, let me start by saying this is a poor attempt to get back some of the rivalry vibe that was lost by the bungled WCHA breakup and the move to the Big Money–err sorry, I meant “Big 10”.
They also kind of spoiled the buzz buildup with the Gophers playing St. Cloud in the opening round.
Gophers vs St. Cloud is always a good match. I’m a Huskies alum and a fan, so I gotta cheer for the Huskies on this one. I went to every game the first 4 seasons when the Huskies were in the WCHA. That first “real” WCHA game vs the Gophers in the National was ELECTRIC! Never going to forget it.
But I’m a MN hockey fan, so I’ll support any MN hockey team as they move into tournament time.
As proof, how many of you guys have a Believe in the Beaver t-shirt from Bemidji’s run at the national championship a few years ago? Probably one of the best unauthorized pieces of college sports stuff I’ve ever seen.
Grouse
January 24, 2014 at 11:54 am #1382669I could never cheer for anyone besides the Gophers. If I was at St. Cloud I would cheer for them EXCEPT when they played the Gophers…. only 8 minnesotans on St. Cloud, compared to the Gophers who only have 4 kids not from MN!!! cheer for the real MN team. GO GOPHERS

The only good thing to come out of UMD is Stalock!
DTdeertrackerPosts: 9253January 25, 2014 at 9:04 pm #1383087I only caught one part trying to find the Wild game. That was quite the dive by that Bulldog. He should have stayed on the ice and faked some convulsions, that is the only thing that would have made it better.

They did more than one acting jobs that resulted in Gopher penalties. The earlier one was a clean open ice hit that the bulldog went down and curled up in a ball and put his hands over his facemask pretending that he got hit in the face with a stick. The replay showed the gophers stick didn’t even come close to hitting his head at all. The gopher player got a 5 minute major and a game misconduct for a perfectly legal clean hit. That resulted in at least 1 of the bulldogs goals. The bulldogs must be majoring in drama.January 26, 2014 at 6:20 pm #1383309Then the best team won. If you need to pull crap like that to give you a chance to win, you don’t deserve to win. The same thing happened in the Wild Sharks game, but the refs immediately called an even up penalty on the very next face off.
