That’s a bummer. I love going there. They have a lot of things the big box stores don’t, and it is nice to get personal service from knowledgeable people. Sad to see it go to a big developer. Probably condos…

Never saw the place but I will miss it. When they are gone it is forever. Progress ??? I suppose

Progress no. Not too many places a proffesional tradesman can go and get his answers questioned regarding tools, parts, etc. Don’t even bother asking anyone in the box stores anymore for any type of intelligible info, just to find stuff is a chore for em.

YEAH, they spend more time trying to dodge customers than they do helping said customers with their questions and helping them find stuff! Its funny how many I see turn down an aisle with customers and when someone looks up at them, as if they were going to ask a question, they disappear faster than they turned down the aisle trying to get away from another customer.

There was a story about it on the radio yesterday. The owner said it was too hard to commute from his other business dealings in CA back and forth. The property is already sold and St. Paul has stated that they have been approached to build a hotel on the property.

This is real downer. I LOVED 7-Corners because they were one of the few “upper line” power tool dealers and they had all the big brands.

All the big box places now are just carrying junk for weekend semi-handymen. 7 Corners was the only place I knew of where you could go and look at 10 different heavy duty belt sanders when you needed one. And stuff like miter saws, etc, a big box carries 3-4 of them at most.

Granted, I didn’t buy a ton of stuff there because a guy only needs to buy so many Sawzalls for personal use. But still, where will I go now to find anything like 7-Corners?

I disagree because I have had good experiences at Lowes snd Menards…not every time, but far more than not.I think it is dependent on the particular store and thus their staff. Home Depot…that is a different story.

My dad is a retired masonry contractor. I remember going to 7 corners with him all the time in the 70’s and 80’s to buy quality masonry tools no other local hardware stores carried back then and still don’t carry now. Levels, trowels, line holders, jointers, tuck pointers, brick rakers, etc. Definitely a sad day.
