Who is a die hard hockey fan? Are you going to go sit outside Friday night at the outdoor game?

Not enough whiskey or dollars to get me sitting out there.

I’ll be there. Went last year in Chicago too.

I’ll be there. It should be a fun experience but I’m still bitter about the move over to the Big10. College hockey just isn’t the same without the Gophs and Badgers in the WCHA.

It’s not all that bad. Gophs play Bemidji, Mankato, UMD & St Cloud this year. Just won’t be a Conf. tourney. I am looking forward to match ups with Michigan. If/when they add NoDak to the schedule again it will all be good.

C’mon BH, you don’t have to be a diehard puckhead to go to this. From what I’ve heard, the whole experience is worth the admission. The game is only a bonus. Besides, who on this site doesn’t have gear for ice fishing? We’ll be well prepared.

my son and I will be there. we were at the Wis/Ohio game at Lambeau a few years ago, and it was a good time.
I also think changing to the “Big Ten” was a mistake.
    See ya Friday.

The Big 10 is probably a good long-term move, but as is typical of almost everything the U does with sports, it was poorly executed in the short term.

The TV coverage is amateur hour and it makes cable access shows look polished and professional by comparison. They will probably straighten it out over time, but the Big 10 focus is on football and the coverage shows they are struggling with the new hockey focus.

And how the Gophers EVER agreed to give up a rivalry game like UND is beyond anyone’s comprehension. Even for one season, this should have been a deal breaker.

Let’s re-envision this the way it should have been: UND is a mandatory fixture as a non-conf game on the schedule. It’s an annual outdoor game played at The Bank and make 50% of the tickets available to UND fans.

The game would be a must-attend, but as icing on the cake would have been the spend and economic boost of all those Souix fans eating, drinking, and shopping to their heart’s content for the whole weekend.

I heard an interview with Lucia this summer. I don’t remember the EXACT details…he said ND could not be scheduled as a non-conference opponent this year because of the name brouhaha. Something about that and when the schedule was set. He was essentially saying it was out of his hands, but that ND would be back on the schedule as soon as allowed. ALso said it might be every other year with ND, Mankato, St. Cloud, Duluth, etc. There only so many non-con games they can play…

Correct and the U had nothing to do with the switch to the big ten. So to blame them is ridiculous to the say the least.

The TV coverage hasn’t been that bad either.
