A joke. Oil companies reaping record profits every year. Something is wrong. Diesel is less refined as gas and yet it is much higher. Diesel is the top scum and bottom crusties of the barrel

Almost daily I chuckle at these young men and women who drive new 3/4 ton pickups all jacked up with diesel engines and fat tires cause they are just so cool. I just smile. Oh what irony.

Hey guys, believe it or not, my ’01 Dodge diesel dually runs a cheaper cost per mile than my ’10 Silverado with a 5.3. I only drive the diesel in the summer but it’s constantly beating the gas rig. I can pull my 30′ 5th wheel rv waaay cheaper than the gas rig will pull my 18′ glass boat. Like ol’ Ripley said “Believe it, or not” jerr

    They are selling internet service?

As for gas prices, it is highly regulated by law. It would be virtually impossible to create over inflated prices.

You can thank the American way and freedom for those relatively cheap gas prices. That product employs and benefits so many more Americans that you could ever imagine.

The manufacturing industry in America is absolutely booming with the amount of product being made right here. It’s being made primarily here because of the strict standards that the major oil companies require. They could never get that kind of product from china.

It’s a buck more there than here in Eau Claire. We got it for 3.94

That sign is on the Super America on 171st & Hwy 10 in Elk River. 20 miles North on Hwy 169 in Princeton it’s .60 a gallon cheaper for diesel. But……. that’s not a Super America station either.

Diesel has been historically averaging about .80- $1.00 higher the last 6 years or so…. I would say the mistake is in Princeton

For those who scoff at diesel, why aren’t semi’s gassers ? If a guy can afford a $70K truck, plus add ons, he probably isn’t squabbling over the $1.00 more per gallon. With that analogy, if you have anything under 40 mpg, you should be scoffed at too….

No G, $1.10 a gallon more is not normal. I’ve been spending $10,000 a year or more for diesel fuel for 10 years. anywhere from 60 to 80 cents seems about normal, $1.10 isn’t normal anywhere.

OK, seems I was reading more than your reply, I thought you were saying that diesel was .60 cheaper than gas in Princeton…. which I would say was a mistake. I see what you are saying now, yes $1.10 is higher than normal.

Yes, but the diesel guys look at least 42% more manly sitting there with a big diesel hammering away in the drive thru line at Caribou Coffee.

Surely that’s worth paying a measly buck more per gallon?

Diesel now cost more to be refined since 2006 when the epa mandated the transition to ultra low sulfer fuel. My guess the cost of the expense of doing this is being past on to the consumer.

Agreed there is higher refining costs. However those costs don’t fluctuate during the year. It costs the same to process a gallon of diesel in July as January. The only difference is they add a winter blend. Does that blend cost relate to the huge price jump in the winter? Or do you think they spike the price because consumption is higher because guys don’t shut the motors down in cold weather? I understand the higher refining costs, I understand the higher demands of winter, what I don’t understand why is Super America always the first to raise their prices and the last to lower them. The simple answer to that is greed, they aren’t happy enough making money like every other refinery, they want to lead the industry. That’s OK, I’ll go elsewhere and they won’t miss me but I’ll certainly feel better.

Just a seat of the pants observation, but look at what gas powers, cars, light trucks, small engines ie boats, snowblowers, motorcycles. Diesel powers semis, trucks, home heating fuel, even large ships. Therefore, wouldn’t there be alot more competition for each gallon of diesel produced? Demand prompts prices to go up.
