Chris Kluwe vs Viking Coachs

Looks to me like he should have listened to them and he’d still be employed.
He was an employee. His employer can ask him to stop talking out. He chose to ignore that and was cut. Looks pretty cut and dry to me.
Most of us would stop doing something if our employers asked. Chose to continue, suffer the consequenses.
Just my $.02
January 2, 2014 at 3:42 pm #1376178Kluwe is a punter trying to be a self serving activist. Close circuit to Kluwe, you went on the field and kicked the ball 7-8 times a game. You are not as important as you think.
And I didn’t even read the story.
January 2, 2014 at 3:44 pm #1376179Kluwe, 33, signed with the Oakland Raiders but was cut during training camp, and while he’s had tryouts with several teams since then, he hasn’t been offered another job.
So what’s Oaklnds issue with him ? Sounds alot like the Phil Robertson debacle… only the shoe is on the other foot. Fit’s a little tight for a guy who wants to kick with it

You should actually read the article.
How long until the guys that were defending the Duck idiot’s ‘free speech’ start ripping on Kluwe?

Phil is an idiot for saying what his feelings were, which were not derogatory in any way?
Kluwe is an attention whore.
January 2, 2014 at 4:05 pm #1376195I agree with some of the comments over on the Strib site. He could pop a 70 yard kick no problem. But sucked at shorter puts dropping the ball inside the 20. 22nd in the league plus on the top side of his contract. Lot better punters for a lot less cash.

January 2, 2014 at 4:26 pm #1376202I think it would be hysterical to take all the comments on the duck thread and paste them here to see how people feel about their comments in this context!
January 2, 2014 at 4:32 pm #1376206So much not the same thing… one spent the better part of his life preaching & living his views, the other spent a season grabbing the lime light wherever it shone… one got cut and the other got Ducks

Agreed…Why would anyone really want to go there on any of these hot button issues. It would be like me talking to my employer and “taking a stance” on illegal immigration, abortion, Obamacare, the George Zimmerman trial, etc…It is very likely someone within the organziation will have an opposing view on whichever side of these issues I would take.
January 2, 2014 at 4:46 pm #1376210Big G: Here is one of your responses to the duck thread:

Nope, even Nazis have rights.. unless your taking away free speech for those you choose…. I served this country so I can have my opinion and I certainly will defend the Constitution and Bill of Rights People who think they are entitled to pick and choose who get the rights, shouldn’t let the door hit them in the azz on the way out There are other countrys more suited to their beliefs.
Does your statement apply to the punter who claims to have been fired for his comments about [censored] rights?

It had to be more than 7-8 times a game….

Not long, apparently.
Phil is an idiot for saying what his feelings were, which were not derogatory in any way?
Kluwe is an attention whore.

Of course it does… he also has the right to be held accountable, just like The Duck Commander… whether it is his words or his leg that caused it. You believe what you want to believe and I will believe what i want to believe… I defend that also Coming out with these allegations 2 seasons later, after being passed over by every other NFL team is just a coincidence ? After the coach gets fired and we have a much better punter, just lends him no credibility from me. Nothing changes in my view….
blackbayPosts: 699January 2, 2014 at 5:47 pm #1376223The difference is that once disciplined, Kluwe cried, whined and blamed everyone else while calling them names. He should have done the same as Phi and proudly stood by his words.

Is an attention whore the same as a media whore? If so.. X 2.
A lot of NFL punters would have Kluwe-like numbers if they punted indoors 8 home games a year.

Yes, except one uses the media.
Did Phil once complain publicaly about being suspended or did he blame others for his suspension?
desperadoPosts: 3010January 2, 2014 at 7:31 pm #1376259OK, I will be consistent with my comments on both threads
what I said on “the Duck thread” … who cares what some reality TV star says on YouTube
what I say for this “Chris Kluwe thread” … who cares what some NFL punter says on Twitter
gbackesPosts: 22January 2, 2014 at 7:38 pm #1376260Any time a person is extremely right or left, right or wrong, that person better be willing to accept consequences for their actions or words, right or wrong. I think most everyone was not surprised he was let go.
January 2, 2014 at 7:48 pm #1376261I wasn’t. He didn’t have a good year and I don’t think it was a coincidence it seemed to coincide when he had the” debate” and started tweeting.
hndPosts: 1579January 2, 2014 at 8:05 pm #1376270the difference here being kluwe is crappy at his job. phil is not. kluwe is a clown punter whose trying to stay relevant. phil right now very relevant.
phil WAS suspended for his beliefs. kluwe is claiming he was too but is coming off as bitter and the numbers say that even if he was as shy as a churchmouse he was gone.
Palerider77Posts: 630January 2, 2014 at 8:32 pm #1376288I wish we could get a 30 degree day so I could get down to pool 4.
January 3, 2014 at 6:30 am #1376349One major difference between Kluwe and Phil is Kluwe is trying to ruin the careers of three people. The fact that Oakland cut him pretty much tells me his story is BS.
In the NFL, teams look the other way with player antics as long as they produce. As soon as they slip a bit teams don’t want to deal with the headache anymore. See Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, and even Kluwe.
