For those of you out there and that used the Scatter raps last year what did you think about them? Are they worth the sales price of $6.74 that cabela’s have them for with them being on sale for 25% off. IF so what are the best ones to get? Best colors? I am fish mostly bass with some walleye. And Most of my fishing is done in Wisconsin lakes with some being up north in clear water and come being in central being dirty water? But is it worth the hype about them or not really. Any info would be great,

    Thanks,

If you don’t have any yet, I would get some. They have a more erratic action than their original counterparts and can be just the edge you need when the fish aren’t cooperating.

I have used them for mostly walleyes and a caught a few largemouth on them also. I intentionally ran a test with my trusty #7 black and silver shad rap night trolling at my parents cabin up north. I put down one scatter rap in the black silver color and it honestly outfished the shad rap,I was in shock. I caught 5 walleyes on the scatter rap and one on the shad rap. After watching it in the water and watching my rod tip bounce even more, its no wonder it honestly looks like its trying to get away. I would always catch more than my dad or brother when switching my shad rap all the time vs just letting it sit in the holder…etc. Well now wit the scatter rap, I still think it will help but not as crucial… was pleasantly surprised and VERY impressed!

    Just my 2 cents!

Good luck fishing- I like the clown color and some of the bluish/purples with white bellies. Firetiger was good also.

Using primarily trolling applications, the Scatter Rap minnow put a lot of walleyes & saugers in my boat in 2013. The firetiger color was my best producer on Lake Wisconsin & the Wisconsin River (stained water combined with algae bloom). The erratic “bird dog hunting” action is very appealing and worth the cost since I’m not aware of a similar bait with that kind of action that you can get for less $. We also used the Scatter Rap shad in casting applications in the river that accounted for quite a few walleyes as well as some nice smallmouth bass. Hot Steel was the best color for the shads with the Carribean Shad color a close second. The hooks are very sharp… stuck a couple through my fingers while unhooking fish.

Trolled them on leadcore with nice success on the Croix this fall with Jesse Krook. Sweet bait, except we broke one bill off while trolling and he had close to a half dozen more with the same problem in his tackle box. I have a hard time dropping that kind of cash on a bait that breaks that easily…

Look great in the water trolled them on LOW in sept with no luck. Lots of other bait produced. In the same colors. I do believe they have a time and place though. But so does everything in my box.

I had good luck with the black and silver scatter rap this fall. I do like the rattles once its dark.

I too gave them a try on several occasions with no luck. Switched up to some go to cranks in the same color and did well. I have yet to figure out the conditions where they catch fish. I have several I will sell for 30% of retail.

Scatter Raps = I love ’em

They produced when no other bait would on various bodies of water. I found the minnow to be the best but the shad bodies worked also. I will (hands down) continue to run these baits regardless of the broken bill problem (hopefully Rapala has that issue contained by now). I can tell you that I fished a tourney on the Croix in september, though we couldn’t get the big fish to go I had a 2 man limit of 15″-20″ fish in the boat in about 3 hours. These baits produce

Cabela’s has these for under $8.99 ? I’m going to stock up
