There is a lot of knowledge on this board……and being and beginner from Illinois I was wondering about Snap Weights………

Does anyone out there use them???

Sounds like a great concept…….I run leadcore quite a bit this time of year but the fight is just not there…..

Whats the skinny on this system…….. Thanks and look forward to meeting you guys on the 22nd…….

Tom, snap weights are easy to use and can be quite effective in many situations. One of the most common presentations is the 50/50. Run the lure out 50ft then attach a snapweight and run out another 50ft. The best way is to experiment with the amount of line you run out and the placement of the snap. They are great at getting your lure down to depths that the bait won’t run at normally. The 50/50 method Don mentioned works pretty good. You can adjust from there if needed.
    Thanks, Bill

    Don and Bill

Thanks for the info………I purchased the snap weight system at Gander Mountain the other day. My first real shot at trying it out will be in Canada while trolling for Lake Trout……Will post some nice pics if all goes right.

    Tom,
A friend of mine and his wife had great luck running snap weights and jointed rapalas a few years ago in Canada. Make sure you play around with amount of line out and distance from the weight to your lure quite a bit. Once you find the right formula, you’ll be hooked.
    Good Luck!
