I’m not a coffee drinker, but I’d like to put together a nice assortment of some high-quality coffees as a gift for our daycare provider.

I’m looking for some suggestions as far as where and what to buy. Help!

When the wife and I want a special coffee we go and get Dunkin Donut coffee. Mild blend is the best for us. Good luck

Are you looking for something exotic or just a brand and blend? Is there any way you could be sneaky about asking her what blend she likes? There is a huge variety of blends/flavors to choose from and a lot of coffee drinkers are picky like my girlfriend. Personally I like a lighter roast. I have been told it is stronger than the darker blends, but Michelle prefers French Roast and darker.

ps. I am not really a connoisseur, so hopefully others chime in with better advice.

ps ps. Yes, I had to look up the spelling of connoisseur.

Starbucks (ground) of course, but I’ve been buying Duncan Doughnuts brand recently. Excellent quality and selection for a moderate price!
    Just my 2 cents worth…

check to see if she already has a coffee grinder. Ask someone or do some detective work to see if she’s a flavored coffee fan or a traditional. Either way I think Dunkin Donuts is an above average brew. I prefer Caribou over Dunkin. If you want to give her a taste of some coffees from all over the world go to world market. I’m hooked on the Sumatra from Indonesia, whole bean is key. kinda the difference between fresh ground black pepper and pepper out of one of those shakers on the counter of the cafe.

My dog isn’t a coffee drinker, but I bet that would change if I offered him that, if you know what I mean.

See if you can get your hands on some Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee which is often touted as the world’s best coffee. Otherwise, head over to your local Starbucks (assuming there is one around) and they’ll help pick out a nice selection of their ground coffees according to your budget. One thing I would deifnitely include in the assortment is a box of their Vias, which is a really good instant coffee that’s nice to have around if you just want 1 cup. If you’re just picking the stuff up from a grocery store, stick with a medium roast and stay away from the flavored coffees.

For the price, this is some great coffee. Whole bean and grinding just before brewing.

But for a gift, I’d go Starbucks or Caraboo. They have holdiday samplers.

Go to Dunn Brothers and buy a variety in smaller bags. They are a Mn. Company and have some really kick butt beans.
By far better than Caribo or Starbucks.

Store bought coffee is what I tend to drink (I’m lazy). If you can find someone who knows how to roast the green beans you cant beat it, fresh as it comes.

I gotta agree with phishirman, Jamaican Blue mountain whole bean is the best coffee I’ve ever had, you can get at most specialty coffe shops or order it online…

I really like Caribou’s Breakfast Blend and Caribou Blend.

Another coffee I buy when I can is Highlander Grog from Nelson Bros (Clearwater Travel Plaza). Its a flavored coffee, love it!

I’ll admit it right off the bat, I’m a coffee snob.

When I see the posts suggesting Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks I sneer with contempt.

If you want good beans, go to a locally owned neighborhood coffee shop that roasts their own beans.

I’m very lucky to live 3 miles south Black Sheep Coffee in South St Paul.

I was never really into coffee before the lovely Mrs. KFK and I stopped in one day to check the place out.

You’d be amazed at the different flavors you’d taste depending on what country the beans are from.

Its alot like fine wines, single malt scotch or craft beer.
