Walleye Central hands down the best place.

It’s hard to find older or less expensive boats on Walleye Central. Those types you may find on Craigs List.

Agreed, WalleyeCentral or craigslist. Walleyesfirst is good too but many times it’s the same boats as the others.

I would say Craigslist for the most part. If you are looking for a higher end boat, there are decent amount on Walleye Central

    Newer boat – Walleye Central
Older Boat – craigslist a better chance

Don’t forget a couple local boat dealerships, you never know what they have until you ask…

It’s as much about when as where.

Most people now list their boat on multiple free classified sites. Seldom do I see a boat on Walleye Central that isn’t also on Craigslist. Searchtempest is a great tool as well to find boats that might be overlooked by many who only search the local site.

But the big one is timing. Avoid Cragislist during CrazyTime at all costs. Generally from the time the snow melts to June 15 it’s just insane. You will drive yourself crazy and buyers that are desperate to have a rig for opener or for that first big trip north with their buddies will pay almost anything.

There are occasional winter bargains, but having gotten burned once by not being able to water test, I’d say it’s better to pay a little more and be sure.

IMO, the best time to buy is July 5 to ice in. After the 4th, the vast majority of the guys who wanted to upgrade fishing rigs have already done so. Prices settle down and it’s not crazy trying to get to see a boat before it’s snapped up.

SearchTempest misses many, many entries. Try this one: CL search

Walleye Central and craigslist have a great selection. If you have the time to spend go to boattrader.com and then select find a dealer. You can go state to state and look all the dealers. It took me several months on the computer and phone looking for the right on. I finally found a 1999 1850 Lund Tyee GS w/ Optimax 150 (150 hours)in great shape for $12,500 . Had to drive a ways to get it. If you know what your looking for hold out for the right one JMO.

Well since ya didn’t specify what kinda rig your looking for. I am mainly a duck hunter so I use mudmotortalk and craigslist.
